Dr. Lindsay Crabbe MD, FRCP(C) is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who has been practicing in Barrie since 2013. She has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital and Georgian Bay General Hospital and performs endoscopy at Barrie Endoscopy. She completed medical school, Internal Medicine residency training, and a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at McMaster University. She practices general gastroenterology with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. She also practices hepatology and has a special interest in management of Hepatitis B.
Dr. Kyle Fortinsky MD, MBA, FRCP(C) is a Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Therapeutic Endoscopist who has been practicing in Barrie since February 2019. He has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital and Georgian Bay General Hospital and also performs endoscopy at Barrie Endoscopy. He received his MD from the University of Ottawa and completed his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Toronto. He completed a Fellowship in GI malignancies, pancreaticobiliary disease, and therapeutic endoscopy at the University of California, Irvine. He is the Regional Colorectal Screening/GI Endoscopy Lead for the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program. He performs advanced endoscopic procedures including EUS (endoscopic ultrasound), ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography), enteral stenting, and advanced polypectomy for large gastric, duodenal, and colonic polyps.
Dr. Doug Hemphill MD, FRCP(C) has been practicing Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Barrie since 1997. He attended medical school at McMaster and completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at the University of Toronto. He has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) and Georgian Bay General Hospital and performs endoscopy at Barrie Endoscopy. He was a founding member of the Ontario Association of Clinic Endoscopists (OACE). He serves on the Medical Executive of Barrie Endoscopy. He practices general gastroenterology with a focus on Inflammatory bowel diseases and liver disease.
Dr. Rima Petroniene MD, PhD, FRCP(C) is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who has been practicing in Barrie since 2003. She has active privileges at The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where she is the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology. She also has active privileges at Georgian Bay General Hospital and performs endoscopy at Barrie Endoscopy. She attended medical school and completed her training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Health Sciences in Kaunas, Lithuania. After moving to Canada, she completed a GI fellowship at the University of Toronto. She is currently a Medical Executive of Barrie Endoscopy. She is also a chair of Endoscopy Quality Committee at RVH. She practices general Gastroenterology with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and capsule endoscopy.
Dr. Ahsan Syed completed his undergraduate studies and medical school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. He then went on to pursue internal medicine residence at Memorial University in St John’s, NL. He then completed Gastroenterology fellowship and Hepatology subspecialty fellowship at the University of Calgary. Dr Syed has a special interest in liver disease, and went on to complete a Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr Syed looks forward with great pleasure to providing care to patients in Barrie and the surrounding communities.
Dr. Sehem Ghazala, MD is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist who joined Barrie GI in May 2024. He has active staff privileges at Royal Victoria Hospital and Georgian Bay General Hospital. He received his Internal Medicine from University of Arizona and Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at Tulane University. After serving as a staff gastroenterologist at Catholic Health, Buffalo, he has returned to serve the Barrie community and its surrounding areas. Dr. Ghazala has special interest in stomach diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and colon diseases.
